The Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park played host to the very first Attitude 101, empowered by Bentley lunch yesterday (Friday 3 December) as we celebrated the 101 trailblazers featured in the Attitude 101 issue – out now to download and to order globally – and the collective power of our community’s individual achievements across a range of fields.

The categories are Sport; Politics; The Future, supported by Clifford Chance; Science, Technology, Engineering, & Mathematics; Media and Broadcast; Travel; Film, TV, and Music, supported by Taimi; Business, Financial and Legal; Third Sector and the Community; and Fashion, Art and Design, supported by Klarna. Our Person of the Year is the game-changing rapper, Lil Nas X.

Some of those featured in this year’s list were able to join us for the celebratory event, as well as some friends and stars.

Wildlife presenter and explorer Dan O’Neill was looking sharp.

Aisha Shaibu and Lexie Lenoir, who featured in the Third Sector and Community and the Business, Financial and Legal categories respectively, came along.

Charlie Condou looked perfectly charming on the red carpet.

Presenter and Physicist, Shivani Dave who is featured in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths category was joined by the co-chair of the Switchboard LGBT+ helpline, Tash Walker, who is included in the Third Sector and Community category.

Juno Dawson struck a pose for us.

Diva magazine publisher Linda Riley and long-time LGBTQ activist, Peter Tatchell joined us for the day.

Asexual advocate, model, and Attitude Pride Award winner, Yasmin Benoit, looked stunning!

Diver and former Attitude cover star, Michael Gunning, looked like he was having a great time.

Jack Guinness looked dapper as hell for us!

Ben Thompson looked as handsome as ever.

Marcelino Sambé gave us smart-casual elegance right here!

Presenter and comedian James Barr looked dashing.

Attitude 101 cover star and DJ Woody Cook looked ready to get the party started.

Once all our guests had arrived, Attitude’s Publisher and Managing Director, Darren Styles kicked off the proceedings by welcoming everyone to the Ballroom at the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park and paid tribute to our phenomenal LGBTQ trailblazers.

After a delicious three-course lunch, our Editor-in-Chief, Cliff Joannou, spoke about the inspiration we can take from those featured in this year’s 101 before he introduced our two guest speakers.

First up was the leader of this year’s Business, Financial and Legal category, and the UK Government’s first LGBT Business Champion, Iain Anderson. He talked about being a champion for all members of the LGBTQ community in business and calling out bad examples of practice in the workplace and within government.

He was followed by another Attitude 101 cover star, DJ SHERELLE, who spoke passionately about the need for greater diversity in all walks of life.

After lunch, we invited our guests to mingle over some cocktails provided by Slingsby Gin. The marmalade gin went down a real treat!
