Stonewall FC footballers share LGBTQ-tastic new kits – including one inspired by trans flag

Footballers for Stonewall FC, Britain’s top-ranking LGBT+ football team, are seen modelling their brand new kits in a series of newly released photos.

And we’re obsessed.

While the left sleeve of the new shirts features a rainbow tag, the right shows a ‘Kick It Out’ logo – a symbol of support in the fight against racism and all forms of discrimination.

All three kits will be worn from 12 December, and have been created in collaboration with Stonewall FC’s lead club sponsor adidas, and as part of the adidas Football Collective.

”Stonewall FC has prided itself on being at the forefront of the fight for LGBT equality at grassroots for the past 30 years,” SFC’s Jay Lemonius told Attitude.

“The success and visibility we have achieved in football, must be felt by all of our community. We hope that the development of Unity Kit in particular and detailing of the modern LGBT tag will show our solidarity with more marginalised members of the community and encourage more identities to get involved with us and football. 

“The kits’ designs signify the continued fight to make football more inclusive for all but also marks the start of wider partnership work that hopes to increase community engagement.  

“We are proud to be more than just a football club, and we want to continue to inspire people that football is a space for them and where they can be proudly their authentic selves. ”

“Solidarity with the trans community”

The news coincides with Rainbow Laces Day, a campaign by LGBTQ equality charity Stonewall to make sport more inclusive.

The pastel pink and grey Unity Kit “celebrates and demonstrates our solidarity with the trans community, using big, bold colours from the trans flag in a contemporary camo style,” according to the SFC site.

“By using these colours, we want to make it clear that we stand with our trans and gender non-confirming family in the fight against transphobia. We hope that this visibility on the pitch, will help to generate greater awareness and equality for trans people in football.”
