Table for Two | ‘A 6ft-tall twink is never ideal’
Will Adam and Aiden find each other's level on Attitude's Blind Date?
By Will Stroude
Adam (left)
Age: 18
Occupation: Art student
Aiden right)
Age: 25
Occupation: Gymnastics coach
What were you looking for from the date?
ADAM: I went in with no expectations. I haven’t been on a blind date before so was unsure how to conduct myself or the style of conversation.
AIDEN: I was generally just looking to meet someone new who I could have a laugh with and, regardless of whether there was any romance, someone who I could consider a friend.
What were your first impressions?
ADAM: He is a very charismatic, charming young man. He is mature in his ideals and end goal for life, which is something most people struggle to find at such a young age.
AIDEN: Adam was very polite. He introduced himself and is very wellspoken and seemed like a genuine person.
Would you have swiped left or right?
ADAM: Definitely right.
AIDEN: I would definitely have swiped right.
What did you make of his dress sense?
ADAM: I felt under-dressed in comparison to his suit. A shirt and blazer definitely showed confidence on his part, which I just adore!
AIDEN: The black turtleneck and cropped skinny jeans is always a good look to go for and I enjoyed the view!
How was the conversation and what did you talk about?
ADAM: We spoke about each other’s goals and desires as well as what we perceived the date to be like, our jobs and what we appreciate in life.
AIDEN: The conversation was free- flowing, open and honest. We spoke about our thoughts on gay culture and how the use of social media apps has led to LGBT+ dating becoming almost non-existent.
What was the most interesting thing about him?
ADAM: His ability to further the conversation, change the direction and still maintain the flow.
AIDEN: It was great to see someone with a real enthusiasm for culture and art. It made me want to learn more about both him and the art that he produces.
What do you think he thought of you?
ADAM: I was worried that my height would be an issue. A 6ft-tall twink is never ideal and something I’m very self-conscious about. Aiden was much shorter than me, but we joked about it and he made me feel completely relaxed about the matter.
AIDEN: I think he enjoyed the date and considered me good company for the evening.
How was the food?
ADAM: Divine. The waiter’s suggestions were perfect; I especially enjoyed the steak (as a student, luxury dining isn’t really an option).
AIDEN: I can honestly say I’ve never tasted such good food. I would highly recommend it.
Adam and Aiden dined at M Restaurant, Victoria Street, London
Any awkward moments?
ADAM: As always when meeting someone new there will be the occasional silence, but we seemed to talk all throughout the meal, and continued our conversation as we walked through London.
AIDEN: None. I think we were both very relaxed.
How did the night end?
ADAM: We ended up on steps by the Thames, watching the geese and chatting some more.
AIDEN: We swapped phone numbers on the way to the station, gave each other a hug and a kiss!
Snog, marry, avoid?
ADAM: I would definitely snog.
AIDEN: Snog for sure. Marriage is a long way off but I think I’d be very happy married to Adam. Never avoid.
Will you meet again?
ADAM: We spoke about it and I’d be more than happy to meet again.
AIDEN: I would like that.
