When Tom Daley appeared on the cover of the Attitude July issue last month, it was clear the 27-year-old diver was in the shape of his life ahead of having another crack at gold at the Tokyo Olympic Games.

Now, with a little over two weeks to go until the Games get underway in the Japanese captial, Tom’s giving fans another long hard look at his world-beating physique in some exclusive unseen images from his shoot with photographer Eddie Blagbrough.

Daley, who’s set to compete in the men’s 10-metre platform and men’s synchronised 10m platform events, shared two stunning black and white shots on Instagram over the weekend which quickly drew the attention of his followers.

Among those having their thirst quenched were were Drag Race legends Detox and Lemon, who appeared lost for words as they commented simply “THOMAS” and “I completely agree” respectively.

Discussing the rigours of Olympic training during his Attitude cover shoot with synchro partner Matty Lee, Tom admitted: “My training schedule is pretty intense at the moment. We’re building into the Olympic Games so we’re training six days a week up to about six hours a day, involving dry land stuff like gymnastics, trampolining, yoga, cardio, weightlifting…

“Pretty much, you name it, we do it, because we have to train pretty much every single muscle in our body to withstand 35mph impact into the water from 10m.

“So, it’s pretty intense – but hopefully it’ll be worth it!”

As well as opening up about his gold medal dreams, Tom used his appearance in the Attitude July issue (which you can still download instantly here) to reflect on fatherhood and the new perspective it’s given him on the world of competitive sport.

“Pressure is a funny word to me: it can overwhelm you and you can let it take control of you, or you can take control of the pressure,” Tom said.

“I think the best way to deal with pressure is to put things into perspective: Yes, the Olympic Games is the biggest sporting event on the planet, but [it’s] Olympic ‘Games’ – it’s just a game.

“It’s basically like playing Monopoly with your family!”
