Watch | Tom Daley and Dan Goodfellow qualify for Rio Olympics at Diving World Cup
The gold medal dream is edging closer for Tom Daley after qualifying for his second consecutive Olympic Games diving event alongside partner Dan Goodfellow.
Speaking about his success from the World Diving Cup in Rio, the 21-year-old says, “we not only qualified for the Olympics, we got Bronze medals”.
“It’s all very exciting, I can’t believe it!
Their bronze medal winning dive over the weekend (February 21) now confirms a place for the pair in the 10-metre syncho diving event for Team GB.
Under rainy weather conditions and delays caused by lightning, Daley says the final competition dive was mentally and physically gruelling.
“Conditions for the final were actually really tough,” he says.
“The standard was high, and everything and anything you could think of as obstacles were thrown at us. In particular, on our fourth dive, a reverse three-and-a-half, I actually nearly got blown off the board.”
Congrats lads!
