Come to the Dublin Pride 2021 celebration

The annual Dublin Pride Festival is a 10-day program full of events to celebrate the joyful LGBTQ+ life in Dublin, Ireland.

This yearly event started back in 1974 as a one-day affair attended by just 10 people. It has come a long way since then. In 2019, over sixty-thousand people took part in the celebrations, including marching in the massive pride parade on the final day.

Besides the parade, members and supporters have a host of mini-events and activities to look forward to. There are workshops that teach how to handle gender discrimination, free art lessons, art exhibits, mini-concerts, and so much more.

The event is held around the final two weeks of June, but because of the Covid-19 pandemic, Dublin Pride 2020 was postponed to September 2020. The physical events were eventually canceled, and the festival ran digitally instead.

The online parade was led by Tom Brabazon, Lord Mayor of Dublin. He was accompanied by front-line workers from all over the city. Walking tours, exhibits, and concerts were held virtually. This year, with the easing of Covid-19 restrictions, the organisers are hopeful that they will be able to hold a mixture of online and offline activities to celebrate Dublin Pride. Many are also hoping to watch and participate in the mini-concerts, film viewing, exhibits, and workshops for everyone.  If restrictions are relaxed even further, you can expect that the Picnics and Pride Run, two activities that are traditionally held in Phoenix Park, will take place physically rather than virtually.
