Travel Review: The Ritz-Carlton, Los Angeles
If you’re looking to have a wedding away from the UK, The Ritz-Carlton makes its pitch for sunny L.A. – so we went over the pond to review a couple of the locations the hotel company has to offer.
With all the hotels in the trendy Downtown L.A area, it’s smack-bang in the middle of everything cool. It’s right next to the Grammy Museum (which holds a Taylor Swift exhibition until May 10), the Staples Centre, Grand Central Market and Mexican market, Olvera Street, as well as many a converted brewery and factory. It’s in a prime position for those wanting a busy honeymoon- whether you want to catch an all-American Lakers game, or a pop concert.
With rooms situated high up in a skyscraper, it’s an ultimate serene escape as you look out over the bustling city. There is a rooftop heated pool (pictured above) that is definitely suited to those wanting an urban break, with panoramic city and mountain views and plenty of flair. The Ritz-Carlton Spa, with nine luxury treatment rooms, a club lounge and the award-winning WP24 restaurant from celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck, add a relaxed luxury feel to the hotel.
For wedding venues, we tried out The Ritz-Carlton, Marina Del Rey hotel, which is connected to the water wherever you look. They have a plethora of wedding venues for you to pick from, whether you want an indoor or alfresco party (as it practically never rains in LA, it’s a serious option to consider).
If you do want an outdoor wedding, you can marry outside in the idyllic Rose Garden – it has everything from a sweeping double staircase, a stone waterfall with Koi Fish pond to a wrought iron gazebo. Another outdoor venue is Marina Court – this time with Tiki torch lighting on the water front.
Looking indoors, there are several options from The Ritz-Carlton: The Ballroom, their premier space, accommodating 500 guests in opulent luxury. The ballroom terrace on the waterfront has incredible views of the Marina, as does the marina vista with panoramic views of the water. They also have a selection of salons- all with chandeliers and silk wall coverings! Wherever you are in the hotel, you always feel close to the water, and it’s impossible to feel anything but relaxed and soak up the extravagant surroundings. The rooms come with either full-sized or Juliette balconies.
The incredible club lounge has a salon feeling, with food provided all day (including homemade salted caramel cookies from the pastry chef, which we recommend!) and plenty of drinks, perfect for the morning after the big day. The staff look after everyone with meticulous care, making guests feel like its their special day too.
