At least 5 killed, 18 injured after LGBTQ club shooting in Colorado Springs

At least five people have been killed and 18 injured after a gunman opened fire at Colorado Springs LGBTQ bar Club Q this weekend.
The attack took place on Saturday night (19 November 2022), and was confirmed by police on Sunday morning (20 November).
An individual believed to be a suspect has been taken into custody and treated at a hospital, according to reports.
As per the New York Times, Lt. Pamela Castro, a Colorado Springs Police Department public information officer, addressed the incident at a news conference outside the premises on Sunday.
Castro said the investigation was in the beginning stages. The number of victims is subject to change. Castro added that victims had been taken to multiple hospitals in Colorado.

A representative said in a statement on the club’s Facebook page: “Club Q is devastated by the senseless attack on our community.
“Our prays [sic] and thoughts are with all the victims and their families and friends.
“We thank the quick reactions of heroic customers that subdued the gunman and ended this hate attack.”
One follower commented on the post: “From a club bartender in Denver, my heart is with you guys. I am so deeply sorry from the bottom of my heart that you had to go through this. My prayers go out to the families of the victims. My heart is so broken.”
Colorado Springs is the second-largest city in Colorado. The state has seen some of the highest-profile mass shootings in recent US history, including the 1999 Columbine High School massacre.
Castro added that the FBI were on the scene and assisting, reports CNN. The outlet furthermore adds that 11 ambulances were deployed to the bar after several 911 calls were made.
