Josh Seiter is ‘alive and well’ and claims Instagram hack is behind death hoax
"Somebody was playing a cruel joke and mocking my mental illness."
Josh Seiter, a former star of The Bachelorette, has posted a video showing he is “alive and well” after it was claimed he had died.
On Monday (28 August) a now-deleted statement was posted on his Instagram account purporting to confirm the adult film star had died aged 36.
Posting a video on Tuesday Seiter said he was “alive and well” and explained that his account had been hacked.
He also explained he had been trying to get back into it for 24 hours.
“Somebody was playing a cruel joke and mocking my mental illness and the struggles I’ve gone through with depression and suicide attempts,” Seiter continued.
Seiter has discussed his mental health openly in the past. He had also discussed that he had previously attempted to take his own life.
“I battle OCD, Bipolar Depression, and GAD, but I refuse to give up. What did you survive?” he wrote on Instagram in 2021. Seiter has also candidly spoken about his journey with sobriety.
In his video on Tuesday, Seiter apologised for the pain that the hoax had caused. He added that he and his team were doing what they could to identify who was behind it.
“I apologise for the confusion,” he then said and promised more updates when he had them.
Seiter came out as bisexual in June having previously identified as pansexual, according to Out.
In July, Seiter told Pride about his adult film career saying it had “been a dream of mine for a really long time.”
