17-year-old boy ‘stabbed to death by mother’ because he was gay

A 17-year-old boy from Brazil was allegedly stabbed to death by his own mother after she rejected him because of his sexuality.
According to local reports, Tatiana Lozano Pereira, 32, lured her teenage son Itaberli to the family home on the night of December 29, where he was attacked by two teenagers aged 18 and 19 who she had hired to “teach him a lesson”.
When the two men refused Lozano Pereira’s request to kill her badly-injured son as he lay on the floor, she allegedly took a kitchen knife and stabbed him to death herself.
After killing her son, Lozano Pereira and her husband, Alex Pereira, 30 – Itaberli’s stepfather – took the teenager’s body to local farmland, where they burned it, authorities says.
Itaberli’s remains were discovered just over a week later on January 7 in a sugar cain field close to Cravinhos in the state of São Paulo.
In her initial statement, Tatiana claimed she killed her son after stabbing him in the neck during an argument in which her son threatened her. She later claimed that Itaberli had been killed by three men without her involvement.
Authorities say Lozano Pereira took an active role in the killing and delivered the fatal wound. Three other men including Lozano Pereira’s husband have been arrested in connection with the incident.
Iterberli’s uncle, Dario Rosa, told local media that the boy had long been rejected by his mother because of his sexuality.
