75-year-old man attacked by Trump supporter: ‘My president says we can kill you now’

By Fabio Crispim

A 75-year-old man was pulled from his car and beaten to the ground by a Donald Trump supporter who claimed the President-elect said they can “kill f*ggots now.”

Speaking to Gay Star News, Chuck Redding from Sarasota, Florida described the attack.

“He yanked the door open, dragged me out, ripped my shirt. I was on the pavement. He kept saying, ‘You know my new president says we can kill all you f*ggots now.”’

Redding explains how the Trump supporter followed him home on Monday (November 14) from a local bowling alley in an SUV. Redding claims that the man followed him due to the pro-marriage equality and Human Rights Campaign bumper stickers on his car.

Redding parked the car in the middle of the street and says the SUV driver immediately appeared outside his car door and started banging on the window.

Redding hadn’t locked the car door, so it was yanked open.

The 75-year-old has been left with a cut hand that has swelled to twice its size, a bruised arm, a ripped toe and a scrapped knee.

The attack stopped when a neighbour came out and yelled at the man. The attacker ran to his SUV and left.

Redding ran after the vehicle but was unable to get the license plate number. He filed a police report and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Redding is a former flower shop owner who now makes money this time of year by wrapping Christmas presents for people.

However he’s now unable to do so due to his severe injuries and, although shaken, Redding has no plans to remove the bumper stickers from his car.

“I’m not,” he tells Gay Star News. “In fact, I’m going to look for a larger sticker.”
