Aaron Schock’s father: ‘He’s not gay, just stylish’
By Josh Haggis
The father of a Congressman who resigned this week over a scandal involving a male companion has insisted that his son isn’t gay.
Aaron Schock resigned following reports that he had failed to disclose a number of expenses, which included taking a male companion with him – who Schock claimed was his photographer – on an official trip to India to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014.
In a new interview, his father, Richard Schock, has argued that media reports claiming his son is gay are misconstruing his sexuality with the fact that he’s “stylish”.
“What this is really about is that Aaron has been very successful,” he told WLS. “Aaron is a very hard worker. Aaron is very popular. Aaron is a little different, you know? He wears stylish clothing, and yet he’s not gay. And it makes people — and he’s not married, and he’s not running around with women.
“So, everybody’s throwing up their arms; they can’t figure out Aaron. So, he must crooked, so attack him, bring him down because he’s doesn’t fit into our picture. He hasn’t done anything to hurt people,” he added.
