Alan Carr's 'Chatty Man': The biggest diva interviews

The amazing Alan Carr turns 39 today (June 14), and in celebration we’re looking back at some of the most notorious interviews the comedian has given us over the years on his Channel 4 show Chatty Man.

Now in its sixth year, the series has attracted pretty much every diva going, and when you mix an A-list American ego with Alan’s pithy brand of camp British humour, the results are never anything short of magnetic. So here’s are selection of the show’s biggest ever appearances, that’ll either leave you cackling with laughter or cringing in agony…

Britney Spears

Not long after Britney told Alan that ‘work bitch’ is “kind of like respect to the gays, as a term of endearment” (us neither), he took her around the Chatty Man studio to whip up motivation in his team. “Britney, this is my make up artist, and honestly if I gave a crayon to a chimp I’d look better,” Alan barks, before Britney apologetically tells an old grey haired lady to ‘work bitch’.

Rihanna

Alan pointed out that Rhi-Rhi wasn’t wearing any trousers, and she said she’d wanted to impress him, but then she was told he was gay. “Oh I know,” he sympathised, looking downwards, “not even semi.”

Nicki Minaj

Nicki tried the English lifestyle as Alan force fed her scones with jam and cream, and she insisted on speaking in a faux British accent. Alan set her up, saying “It sounds like you’ve got an English man inside you,” and she didn’t disappoint. “I had one inside me last night!”

Taylor Swift

La Swift appeared on Chatty Man, and for the first and probably last time, she had a can of White Ace cider, which Alan tried to pass off as an English delicacy. “That’s not true is it?” she asks, before necking it anyway. Get it down you, girl.

Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga has made a few appearances on Chatty Man, and on this one she gave a beautiful piano performance of Gypsy while wearing an iPad on her dress. “You’re on about 10% battery there,” Alan says, before plugging her in. “When’s the last time you plugged in an outlet down there?” she asks, before Alan breaks the sad news.

Lindsay Lohan

In one of Chatty Man’s most notoriously awkward interviews, things understandably nose-dived as soon as Alan asked the former Mrs Samantha Ronson if she was “back on the cock.”

Katy Perry

Ms Perry got into a chat about male spanx, which Alan said he had tried on unsuccessfully. “It redistributes the fat. People thought I was going bald, but it was one of my tits.”

Miley Cyrus

Miley appeared on Chatty Man shortly after her iconic MTV VMA performance, which Alan brings up subtly. “You were grinding up against Robin Thicke. Did you notice him getting thicker? Was Robin throbbing?”

Kim Kardashian

Settling down for a chin wag, Kim clinked glasses with Alan, saying “Look me in the eyes, you know what they say about looking someone in the eye when you do cheers?” – “Does that mean we’re going to have sex soon?” Alan asked, while she quickly looked away.
