Apple cut same-sex couple from international versions of Mother’s Day ad

Apple has been accused of simply paying lip service to the LGBT community after a lesbian couple who appeared in the US version their Mother’s Day advert were removed from the version broadcast around the globe.

The US version of the commercial, entitled ‘Shot on iPhone – Mother’s Day’ to was first posted to the company’s YouTube channel on May 1.

However the couple, identified as Instagram stars Melanie and Vanessa Roy, were replaced in the French advertisement by a black-and-white image of a pregnant lady and an image of a woman and her baby lying in bed.

It has since been noticed that Melanie and Vanessa have also been omitted from the German, Italian, Turkish, and Japanese versions of the advert.

When contacted by Buzzfeed, Apple declined to comment.
