Ariana Grande has hit back at a “fan” who directed a homophobic slur at her gay half-brother, Frankie, on Instagram.

Frankie Grande, a 31-year-old Broadway actor and singer, is currently a contestant on this year’s edition of Big Brother USA, where he has formed a surprisingly close relationship with one of the show’s straight housemates, and become one of the favourites to win the reality contest.

Ariana posted a video of Frankie in the Big Brother house on Instagram yesterday (August 11), and while the majority of the comments were in support of her brother, a reply from one Instagram user labelled Frankie a “homo”.

Replying to the comment directly on Instagram, Ariana jumped to the defence of her brother, calling him the “most intelligent, kind hearted and most loved person on the face of planet”, before giving more than just a hint of sass in return.

Take a look at her reply below:

Rising star Ariana Grande is preparing to release her new album My Everything on August 25. The album is the follow-up to her 2013 debut Yours, Truly, which peaked at Number Seven in the UK and spawned the US hit single The Way.

Her summer smash Problem hit Number One in the UK last month (July), and her new single Break Free is currently sitting in the Top Ten on UK iTunes. She also features on Jessie J’s new single Bang Bang alongside US rapper Nicki Minaj – listen to the track here.

Meanwhile, Ariana told Attitude recently that she has sampled a classic gay anthem on her new album – click here to find out which one it is.
