Arkansas churches refuse to hold gay man’s funeral

The husband of a gay man that passed away last month (January) has been unable to find a church in Arkansas that will hold his partner’s funeral.
Jay Hoskins (pictured at right, below), whose husband James Stone (at left) passed away at the age of 32 on January 19, says that he has even been turned away by the local firehouse that was built by his late husband’s father.
Although the Clarkridge Church of Christ had initially agreed to hold the man’s funeral, the church later cancelled the gathering and instead decided to hand out anti-gay leaflets to Stone’s grieving mother, reports The Dallas Voice.
“I have never experienced such hate and bigotry in my life,” Hoskins wrote on Facebook. “He died a tragic death of suicide where his poor mother and myself found him hanging from a ceiling fan. I tried unsuccessfully to revive him, but it was too late.”
“I lost the love of my life just over 2 weeks ago, and still don’t know how I am going to carry on, but will have to adapt,” he added.
