Arranged Gay Marriage allows users to search for potential spouses around the world

By Fabio Crispim

India is well known for arranged marriages where parents pick appropriate spouses for their children based on looks, class and education. Indian newspapers featured personal ads of people seeking brides or grooms for weddings to help in the search.

Now, however, Joshua Samson, an Indian-American, is changing things up.

The PRI reports that Samson, the CEO of Arranged Gay Marriage, wants to bring those matchmaking tools to gay men and women around the world.

Speaking to PRI, Samson says that “The big step for us was when the United States made gay marriage legal.”

“We knew there is a huge underground gay and lesbian community in India, and we thought why not spread some light out there, help people who feel like they can never be helped?”

However, India still criminalises homosexual intercourse yet same-sex unions aren’t clearly outlawed.

Samson explained that “Same-sex marriage may be occurring in the country but unfortunately these couples are still fearful to go public with anything.”

Samson states that the service was originally meant to help gay Indian-Americans find Indian spouses but due to demand, the service is being used all over the world and Samson has received over 300 requests though he has only chosen 25 as clients.
