Artist tattoos Liam Gallagher’s homophobic tweet on himself
A Danish artist has tattooed Liam Gallagher’s homophobic tweet onto his leg.
The tweet, now deleted, referred to the anti-gay slur ‘batty boy’ and came just days after the Orlando massacre, which saw 49 people murdered in a rampage at the gay nightclub Pulse.
Artist Kasper Norland told The Sun: “The Tweettoo Project is a work-in-progress art project that explores the powerful combination of celebrity and social media. If a celebrity tweets a statement that he or she then for some reason deletes, it qualifies for my Tweettoo project.”
He added: “Anyone can thoughtlessly say offensive things they regret but when you do it on the internet it will stay there forever. Like a tattoo.
“Combine this with an audience of 1 million followers and you have a situation that could easily get out of control.”
Norland appears to take his artistry seriously, as the unpleasing-to-the-eye tattoo is the definition of ‘suffering for your art’.
He also has tattoos featuring the deleted tweets of Justin Bieber and Justin Timberlake.
Gallagher deleted his tweet after widespread criticism, and apologised, saying: “If I’ve upset anybody with my tweets I apologise that includes you RKID as you were LG x (sic)”
