Attitude editor Matthew Todd wins Men’s Editor of the Year
Our own Matthew Todd took out the coveted Editor of the Year – Men’s Brand award at the prestigious annual ‘magazine Oscars’ the British Society of Magazine Editors Awards last night.
Todd beat out a field in his category that included GQ editor Dylan Jones, Martin Robinson of ShortList and Mark Hedley of Square Mile. In giving Matthew the award, judges – made up of a panel of magazine editors – said that “The winner’s title was honest, emotionally connected with its readers and genuinely passionate about helping them.”
“That’s the nicest compliment I could ever get for my work on the magazine,” Todd said after the win.
“Thank you to all of the team here at Attitude – particularly our Managing Director Mike Buckley and Deputy Editor Cliff Joannou, whom I couldn’t do it without. I’m very proud that Attitude can hold it’s own against the biggest magazines in the country’.

The Men’s Brand win was one of two nominations for Attitude at last night’s awards, with a nod in the Innovation / Brand-Building Initiative category for the inaugural Attitude Pride Awards, which shone a light on everyday heroes within the LGBT community.

Attitude is the only gay magazine to have ever been nominated for a BSME Award. Previous editor Adam Mattera won Men’s magazine Editor of the Year in 2005, as did Todd in 2011.
