Attitude is seeking a new Art Director

, the UK’s best-selling gay magazine, is looking for a talented Art Director to oversee the overall design of the magazine, its industry-leading iPad version and other projects within the magazine.

The successful candidate will be responsible for running the art desk and will work closely with the Editor and editorial team to maintain the cutting edge look and feel of the magazine.

The Ideal Candidate

Will be a brilliant designer and have proven art-directing experience, ready to initiate fresh ideas in order to create dynamic, stunning layouts.

Attitude’s Art Director must be fit to burst with ideas for design concepts as well as devising cover shoot concepts and original picture ideas across all areas of the magazine. They will also be expected to possess strong leadership skills to manage the art desk and maintain a calm temperament throughout.

They should have experience of working closely with photographers, editors, writers and stylists to deliver the Editor’s creative vision. Ideally, they should also have a keen interest in fashion photography and have a contact book of established photographers and up and coming photographers.

As well as overseeing the day to day running of the art desk, they will be responsible for other design projects – such as designing media boards, invitations, etc for the magazine’s various high-profile events and working on advertorials and advertising pitch work.

A successful candidate will need to demonstrate:

• A healthy interest in celebrity culture, current affairs and an awareness of gay issues would be beneficial
• Keen interest in fashion photography
• Proof of working fast but accurately to regular, tight deadlines
• Main feature /specials design and retouching: repro
• Proficiency in Creative Suite InDesign Photoshop and Illustrator
• Contact book of established and up and coming photographers
