Attitude’s Paris Lees wins at Cosmo’s Ultimate Women Awards

Attitude’s Editor-at-Large Paris Lees has been named Ultimate Trailblazer at the Cosmopolitan Ultimate Women of the Year Awards 2014.
The firebrand journalist and LGBT campaigner won the award for her work promoting a better understanding of transgender people in the media, and for being one of the few prominent trans people in the industry.
Over the past 18 months, Paris has worked with the likes of The Sun, the BBC, Channel 4, The Daily Mail and Hollyoaks discuss how transgender people are portrayed, as well as becoming the first ever trans person to appear on Question Time and judge the Stonewall Awards – read more here.
The 26-year-old recently came second in the Independent on Sunday’s Rainbow List 2014, which lists the 100 most influential gay people in the UK and included the likes of Sam Smith and Sue Perkins – click here to find out more.
The Cosmopolitan Ultimate Women of the Year Awards are held annually to celebrate women in the entertainment industry as well as extraordinary women form all walks of life. Other winners at this year’s event – hosted by Fearne Cotton – included Mel B, Dame Vivienne Westwood, Lena Dunham and Taylor Swift.
