Avatar: Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana confirmed for sequels
By Sam Rigby
Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana will appear in the forthcoming Avatar sequel movies.
The pair – who play Jake Sully and Neytiri in the James Cameron fantasy series – have signed on to film all three sequels planned by the director.
Meanwhile, it was confirmed late last year that Stephen Lang will reprise the role of Colonel Miles Quaritch in the films, despite the character seemingly being killed off in the original 2009 film.
The three sequels will begin shooting simultaneously in 2015.
The first Avatar sequel is expected to be released at Christmas in 2016, with the third and fourth instalments following in 2017 and 2018 respectively.
Avatar became the highest-grossing film of all time following its release in December 2009, surpassing the success of 1997’s Titanic, which was also directed by Cameron.
