Britney’s lawyers issue cease and desist to sister Jamie Lynn: ‘She will not tolerate it’
The letter comes amid a seemingly growing rift between the two Spears sisters.

Britney Spears has told her sister Jamie Lynn to stop “derogatorily” mentioning her in interviews while promoting her upcoming memoir and warned of further legal action.
The younger Spears sister has been on the promo trail for Things I Should Have Said, which has included an interview with ABC’s Good Morning America (GMA) where Jamie Lynn discussed her relationship with the ‘Stronger’ singer.
Lawyers for Britney have issued her sister with a cease and desist letter, which comes during speculation of a rift developing between the two.
“She will not tolerate it”
People magazine has obtained a copy of the letter sent by Britney’s legal representative, Mathew Rosengart. It reads: “We write with some hesitation because the last thing Britney wants is to bring more attention to your ill-timed book and its misleading or outrageous claims about her.
“Although Britney has not read and does not intend to read your book, she and millions of her fans were shocked to see how you have exploited her for monetary gain. She will not tolerate it, nor should she.
“You of all people know the abuse and wrongdoing Britney had to endure during the conservatorship, after initially growing up with a ‘ruinous,’ alcoholic father,” it continues.

Rosengart also says, “Britney was the family’s breadwinner and she also otherwise supported you,” and that “publicly airing false or fantastical grievances is wrong, especially when designed to sell books. It is also potentially unlawful and defamatory.”
The letter then references a statement from Jamie Lynn issued last week in response to Britney’s criticism over her sister’s GMA interview which said: “I hate to burst my sister’s bubble, but my book is not about her.”
“She takes you at your word and we, therefore, demand that you cease and desist from referencing Britney derogatorily during your promotional campaign,” the letter says in response before warning, “If you fail to do so or defame her, Britney will be forced to consider and take all appropriate legal action.”

In her GMA interview, Jamie Lynn insisted “love is still there” between the two sisters. Following this and other appearances by Jamie Lynn, Britney came back with a stinging attack in which she said Jamie “never had to work for anything”.
