Caitlyn Jenner releases first campaign video since comments about trans girls and sport

Caitlyn Jenner has released her first California governor campaign video since saying she opposes trans girls participating in women’s sports over the weekend.
Sharing the video on Twitter today, the Olympic gold medal-winner said: “I came here with a dream 48 years ago to be the greatest athlete in the world.
“Now I enter a different kind of race, arguably my most important one yet, because California is worth fighting for!”

The former Keeping Up with the Kardashians star will go up against Governor Gavin Newsom and other candidates in this year’s California gubernatorial recall election, which will likely take place in November 2021.
“I’m clear about where I stand”
Jenner’s video follows a brief TMZ interview on Saturday 2 May in which the 71-year-old said: “[…] I oppose biological boys who are trans competing in girls’ sports in school. It just isn’t fair. And we have to protect girls’ sports in our schools.”
The Republican once again shared the video on Twitter, adding in a caption: “I didn’t expect to get asked this on my Saturday morning coffee run, but I’m clear about where I stand.

The I Am Cait star shot and former decathlete shot to fame after winning the gold medal at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal. She announced her candidacy for California governor on 23 April 2021.
