Charlie Sheen: ‘I am in fact HIV positive’
By Will Stroude
Charlie Sheen has confirmed that he is HIV positive in an interview with the Today show’s Matt Lauer.
“I would like to admit that I am in fact HIV positive,” said the former Two and a Half Men star, adding that he wanted to “put an end to the barrage of attacks” following days of tabloid speculation about his status.
“It’s a hard three letters to absorb,” he said, adding that his diagnosis four years ago had been a “turning point” in his life.
“I always led with condoms and honesty when it came to my condition,” the 50-year-old said, before going on to admit that he has paid “millions” to blackmailers who’ve threatened to reveal his status to the public over the last few years.

The Platoon star, who has five children with ex-wives Denise Richards and Brooke Mueller, has kept a relatively low public profile since his FX sitcom Anger Management was cancelled late last year.
He was controversially axed from CBS’s Two and Half Men back in 2011 following a fall-out with creator Chuck Lorre, and after production on the show had been suspended while he entered rehabilitation for drug and alcohol abuse.
