Charlie Sheen to make ‘revealing personal announcement’ following HIV reports

Charlie Sheen will appear on NBC News later today (November 17) to make a “revealing personal announcement” amidst media reports that he is HIV positive.
NBC has confirmed that the former Two and a Half Men star will appear in an exclusive, live sit-down interview with Matt Lauer at on the Today show at 7am EST (12pm GMT), but did not provide further details.
The news comes as US tabloids including The National Inquirer and Radar Online have named Sheen as the Hollywood star rumoured to be HIV positive over the last few days. Last week, Britain’s The Sun newspaper came under fire from HIV/AIDS organisations after reporting that the then-unnamed star may have put former lovers at risk under the headline ‘Hollywood HIV Panic’.
Once the highest paid actor on US television, Sheen has kept a relatively low public profile since his most recent show, FX sitcom Anger Management, was cancelled late last year.
The 50-year-old, who has five children with ex-wives Denise Richards and Brooke Mueller, was controversially axed from CBS’s Two and a Half Men back in 2011 following a fall-out with creator Chuck Lorre, and after production on the show had been suspended while he entered rehabilitation for drug and alcohol abuse.
The Today show airs on NBC at 7am ETS (12pm GMT).
