Comedian Victoria Wood dies aged 62

Victoria Wood has died at the aged of 62.
The actress and comedian passed away following a short battle with cancer, The Telegraph reports.
The four-time BAFTA winner, whose career in entertainment spanned five decades, died at home in London surrounded by her family.
“Victoria Wood has sadly passed away, after a short but brave battle with cancer,” read a statement from the star’s publicist.
“The family ask for privacy at this very sad time.”
Wood began her career winning ITV talent show New Faces in 1974, before going on to become one of Britain’s most popular comics in the 1980s following her work on sketch series Victoria Wood As Seen on TV
In 1998, she wrote and starred in award-winning sitcom Dinnerladies
Two of Wood’s four BAFTA Awards came in 2006, for her work on ITV drama Housewife, 49, and was also noted for her frequent collaborations with fellow British stars Julie Walters, Celia Imrie and Duncan Preston.
In early 2015, she took part in a celebrity version of The Great British Bake Off, where she was crowned ‘Star Baker’. She is survived by her two children Grace and Henry.
