By Sam Rigby
The set of Coronation Street will open as a public attraction in April, it has been announced.
The former set of the ITV soap, located at Granada Studios in Manchester city centre, will be available for tours for a six-month period, the Manchester Evening News reports.
The experience will offer fans of the long-running serial drama a “final, privileged visit” to the iconic set.
Coronation Street recently moved to its new set at Media City in Salford Quays, leaving the Quay Street set after 31 years.
Fans will be taken round the set in groups, with the opportunity to walk down the cobbles and explore gardens and alleyways.
There will also be the chance to take a look at some of the soap’s best loved props and have a sneak peek at some of the dressing rooms used by the stars of the show.
The wider Granada Studios complex has been bought by Allied London and Manchester City Council, and will eventually form part of a new city neighbourhood.
Further details, including pricing, for the Coronation Street set tour will be announced in due course.
