Crowd takes down homophobic man at Dallas airport

By Sam Rigby

A video of a homophobic man being thrown to the ground at Dallas Airport has gone viral.

The man is seen directing homophobic abuse at a man wearing a pink t-shirt, before becoming violent.

The seven minute video – which was uploaded to YouTube last Thursday (October 23) – has been viewed over 3.3 million times.

Another man, wearing a cowboy hat, is heard asking: “What are you upset about?”

The man replies: “Queers is what I’m upset about! This faggot right here.”

He then kicks and hits the man, before being thrown to the ground by a group of bystanders. Airport police quickly arrive on the scene and handcuff him.

On why he attacked the traveller, he says: “Let me tell you the reason why I did it: Because this is America, that’s why.”

Onlooker Neal Kennedy said: “We saw a very troubled man. We hope that he was under the influence of some kind of substance – because if he wasn’t and that’s his true personality then he’s going to have a very long road in front of him.”

Last week, it was reported that the London School of Economics has lost £22,000 of funding after its rugby club distributed homophobic, sexist and classist leaflets – read more here.
