Demi Lovato has tweeted in support of Michael Sam after the American Football star signed to a new team.
Sam, 24, was dropped last weekend by his previous team, the St Louis Rams, ahead of the beginning of the new season of the National Football League (NFL) this week.
He has since been picked up by the Dallas Cowboys, and is now training with the Texan team’s practice squad – which still gives him the chance to become the first out gay player to compete in the NFL.
“It’s been a rollercoaster this past week, but I’m happy where I’m at now. I’m just looking forward to being a Cowboy, my focus is on making the team,” Sam said in a press release.
US popstar Demi Lovato, an increasingly vocal supporter of LGBT rights, has now tweeted in support of the Dallas Cowboys’ decision to sign Sam – see her tweet below.

Lovato isn’t the first celebrity to show support for Sam. Harry Styles recently wore Sam’s team jersey at a One Direction concert, while Daniel Radcliffe called him “f**king awesome” during a recent interview.
