Dolly Parton has ‘no plans’ to cancel North Carolina show over anti-LGBT law

Dolly Parton says she has no plans to cancel her upcoming concert in North Carolina, over the state’s controversial anti-LGBT House Bill 2.
The bill has proved controversial, because it bars transgender people from using the bathroom of the gender with which they identify.
Speaking to reporters on a conference call, the country legend said: “I have no plans to cancel the show. I believe that everybody ought to be treated with respect, but I feel we will serve better from the stage.”
She continued, “I don’t like to get caught up in controversial issues. I will address whatever I need to from the stage.”
Parton is a supporter of LGBT rights, and has in the past said that “homophobic Christians are sinners.”
Concerts in North Carolina have already been cancelled by Bruce Springsteen, Nick Jonas and Demi Lovato, all in protest over the discriminatory legislation introduced earlier this month.
Dolly Parton is playing her ‘Pure and Simple Tour’ across the US from June through to November.
