Donald Trump Jr. blasts Winter Olympics star Adam Rippon on Twitter
The US President's eldest son took aim at the gay sports star on social media
Donald Trump Jr. has publicly attacked gay Olympian Adam Rippon on Twitter.
Rippon, 26, became the first openly gay US figure skater to compete in the Winter Olympics and won a bronze medal for Team US this week. But that didn’t stop Donald Trump’s eldest son from launching an unprovoked attack on him.
After Rippon claimed he didn’t want his experience at the Winter Olympics to be defined by Mike Pence, Trump Jr took to social media in a poor attempt to hit back at the star.
On Twitter, he wrote: “Really? Then perhaps you shouldn’t have spent the past few weeks talking about him. I haven’t heard him mention you once???”

However, Trump Jr. failed to mention that Mike Pence had previously tweeted Rippon and pleaded with the athlete to not believe the “fake news” about his anti-gay remarks, while also insisting that he supports Rippon’s effort at this year’s Olympics.
Rippon, who opened up about his sexuality and sporting career in our new Body Issue, hasn’t commented on Trump Jr.’s tweet, but his followers were quick to correct him.
Meanwhile, the internet has gone wild for Rippon’s relationship with Olympic freeskier Gus Kenworthy, who posed for a series of cute photos on social media in defiance of the anti-gay Vice President.
