Elton John: ‘We are overjoyed by all the support’

Elton John and David Furnish have revealed that they are “overjoyed” by the support they have received since they tied the knot at the weekend.
The couple – who entered into a civil partnership eight years ago – converted the partnership into a same-sex marriage on Saturday (December 21), before holding a wedding ceremony at their Windsor estate. Find out more here.
Elton took to Instagram yesterday (December 22) to share a picture of the newspaper coverage of their wedding, alongside a message that thanked those “around the world” for their love and support.
“We’re utterly overwhelmed by and overjoyed by all the kind messages of support we’ve received from people around the world. Massive thanks to everyone from the bottom of our hearts!
We’re grateful and privileged to live in a country where it isn’t illegal to be gay and where marriage equality is a reality. Let’s all stand up for LGBT people living around the world who deserve the same rights. #ShareTheLove”
