Beauty influencer Ethan Peters, better known as Ethan Is Supreme, has died aged 17.
The make-up artist and cosmetics blogger, who was known for sharing tutorials and gender-fluid looks on Instagram and YouTube, was found dead at home on Sunday (6 September), his father, Gerald, told Fox News.
“He was a kind soul, who accepted everyone for who they were”, Gerald said.
While no cause of death has been confirmed, Gerald said his son had been battling addiction issues and that he believed drugs had played a part in his son’s passing.
Ethan, who boasted over half a million followers on Instagram and 139,000 subscribers on YouTube, was gay and renowned for creating gender-fluid, often gory looks.
The teenager was no stranger to controversy, and had been criticised in the past for making racist and transphobic comments.
His last Instagram post, shared a day before his death, featured an image of himself in a beauty campaign alongside a picture of his younger self, captioned with the words: “I’d like to thank everyone who bullied me”.
Fellow beauty influencer Manny MUA paid tribute to Ethan on Twitter, and criticised those who continued to condemn the teen in the wake of his death.
“rest in peace ethan @trashqueenethan you were so incredibly talented at such a young age”, Manny wrote.
“i know he’s made many many mistakes… but to say he deserved to pass away is horrible and inhuman. i pray for his family and loved ones, a horrible loss.”
