‘Ex-gay’ leader says LGBT characters on kids’ TV will lead to paedophilia
By Will Stroude
The leader of a British Christian ‘gay cure’ organisation has hit out at Lib Dem leadership contender Norman Lamb’s suggestion there should be better LGBT representation on children’s television, saying it could lead to paedophilia.
Dr Mike Davidson – the leader of the Core Issues Trust, which offers therapy to people with ‘unwanted’ homosexual feelings and was behind the now-banned ‘ex’-gay London bus adverts – made the mystifying claim during a radio interview on BBC’s West Midlands 95.6, Christian Concern reports.
In an interview with PinkNews last week, Mr Lamb said “broadcasters should not shy away from reflecting the reality of modern British society”, but Dr Davidson – who describes himself as ‘ex’-gay – has accused the North Norfolk MP of “promoting” homosexuality.
“I think this is premised on the idea that homosexuality is unchangeable and in-born. That is far from what the scientific evidence is saying,” Dr Davidson told the programme last week (July 1), before implying that being exposed to LGBT characters on television could lead to children wanting to have sex with adults.
“The thing is, if ‘we are who were are’, if it’s all about love, is Mr Lamb then going to condone children who, under the influence of so-called minority-attracted persons, say they love an adult and therefore they should be free to express themselves in a sexual relationship with an adult?
“Is he going to condone that? Because logically that’s what he needs to do if he’s saying it’s all about who you love, or who you are.”
He continued: “It’s Norman Lamb once again promoting homosexuality with absolutely no evidence behind it.”
“You know, we’ve been through that in history before, where institutions are taken over by ideology, and I fear that is what is happening in the UK.”
Yeah, it would be totally appalling if an ideologically-driven, unaccountable organisation held undue influence over social and legal policy, wouldn’t it Mike? NEXT.
