Faroe Islands legalises same-sex marriage

By Fabio Crispim

Faroe Islands, just like Colombia, has legalised same-sex marriage.

The archipelago part of Denmark has just passed same-sex marriage.

The 18 rocky, volcanic islands are situated between Iceland and Norway and is the final Nordic country to adopt same-sex marriage, Gay Star News reports.

Politicians voted for the law yesterday (April 29) and, though it has been legalised, the Faroe Islands will not allow couples to wed in Churches as they feared Christian parties would vote against the law.

Back in 2013 a poll revealed that two thirds of Faroese people supported same-sex marriage and this led to Sonja Jógvansdóttir getting elected to the Faroese parliament in 2015.
