A fitness instructor has been found beaten to death in his own apartment in Baltimore.
Brendon Michaels – who reportedly identified as gay – was found inside his home at the beginning of November by firefighters after a concerned co-worker called the police, according to WBAL.
The 43-year-old’s death has been ruled as a homicide by blunt force trauma.
Michaels graduated from the school in 1998 with an associate degree in arts and sciences and was hired as a full-time fitness instructor at Carroll Community College a year after when he was just 24.
In 2008, he was named coordinator of the fitness centre and became a certified personal trainer in 2014.
Following his death, Carroll Community College President James Ball said: “We are extraordinarily sad to hear about the passing of our beloved friend and staff member Brendon Michaels.
“Brendon was a vibrant and well-respected member of the college community for over 20 years.
“He was high energy, passionate about fitness and always willing to help anyone in need. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.
“Brendon will be truly missed and will not be forgotten.”
At the time of reporting, investigators haven’t identified positive motive and police haven’t made any arrests in connection with his death.
