The former NFL quarterback Kordell Stewart will be receiving $3 million following a lawsuit after people spread rumours he was gay.
Stewart – who was also married to Real Housewives of Atlanta star Porsha Williams – spent two decades batting down reports about his sexuality after Andrew “Delivert” Caldwell said he hooked up with him and the athlete bought him cars, purses and other gifts.
Eventually, Caldwell retracted the statements, but Stewart continue with his legal action and sued Caldwell as well as Catalyst Next LLC – the company who owned the internet show he was part of.
Straight From the A report that Stewart has used for $4.5 million in damages, claiming the comments damaged his reputation and brand as well as the effect it had on his nine-year-old son.
He also claims the comments cost him nearly a million dollars after he cancelled a number of public appearances.
Stewart also sought for an addition $2 million in general damages for emotional stress and professional harm, plus another $15, 340 to pay a company to repair his tarnished brand.
However none of the parties bothered to answer the lawsuit and therefore Stewart was granted a default judgment of $1.5 million in general damages and $1.5 million in punitive damages, totalling $34 million.
