Frank Ocean’s dad is suing him over homophobic slur claim

By Fabio Crispim

Grammy award winner and former Calvin Klein model Frank Ocean has gotten into some legal trouble, and with his father no less!

Ocean’s father, Calvin Cooksey, is suing his son for $14 million over claims Calvin used a gay slur against a waitress.

According to Gay Star News, the claim dates back to last year when Ocean wrote a blog piece about hearing the word slur for the first time in response to the Orlando massacre.

The article was published on his Tumblr blog where Ocean, who recently opened up about his first true love for another man, recalled the first time his father used a homophobic slur.

Ocean wrote: “I was six years old when I heard my dad call out transgender waitress a f*ggot as he dragged me out of a neighbourhood dine saying we wouldn’t be served because she was ‘dirty.'”

“That was the last afternoon I saw my father and the first time I heard that word, I think, although it wouldn’t shock me if it wasn’t.”

Cooksey has now claimed that the blog post has cost him financially as it’s damaged his reputation and affected business opportunities.

He’s also denied that the incident never happened while his son has yet to comment on the case.
