Gay couple share proposal video in show of defiance against Donald Trump – WATCH
By Will Stroude
It’s been a rough couple of days, the week is dragging on and, across the pond, insecurity about LGBT equality grows in the wake of Donald Trump’s election.
But, to borrow a phrase from Lady Gaga’s recent anti-Trump protests, “love trumps hate.” And one couple have shared the adorable moment they got engaged to prove just that.
On January 9, Darell got down on one knee and popped the question to boyfriend Rechard. He tells Attitude: “We traveled to NY to celebrate his birthday. I had planned to propose in the middle of Time Square but we got into a very heated argument minutes before. So as we were walking/arguing, I surprised him with the proposal.”
With many fearing Trump will attack LGBT rights when in power, Darell told us that he made the moment public to fight the “hate and negativity,” and to “keep spirits up” during a troubling time for the community.
It certainly gave us a much needed pick-me-up, and given that love will always trump hate perhaps the campaign to flood social media with uplifting scenes of gay love should start here.
Congratulations to the happy couple – and you can watch the beautiful moment below:
