Gay man is overwhelmed to see some colours for the first time
By Micah Sulit
Student and vlogger Ethan Zachery Scott is colour-blind. “It doesn’t mean that I see the world in black and white,” he explains in a YouTube video. “It just means that I see things in a way that is a little bit more dull than usual.”
Ethan, who has red/green colour blindness, adds, “I can see some pink and some green, it’s just sometimes green looks brown or yellow, and pink looks silver or blue.”
For Ethan’s birthday, his fiancé James gifted him with a pair of sunglasses, which he immediately tries on and describes as “very nice”. It’s not until a little while later that he realises they are specialised glasses for correcting his type of colour blindness, made by a company called EnChroma.
In the video taken by James, Ethan is overcome by emotion when he sees the colour purple for the first time, and alternates between cursing and being stunned speechless.
“It’s so trippy!” an emotional Scott says to a co-worker, before turning to the camera and saying, “I love you. Thank you James.”
The two then head outdoors to continue the visual spectacle.
