A gay man was brutally smashed over the head with a bicycle chain in a shocking hate crime.

Bradley Skinner, 25, was having dinner with his sister Amanda when a complete stranger shouted “f****t” at him, according to the Daily Mail Australia.

When his sister stood up to defend her brother, the stranger hit her in the side of the face and when Bradley protected her sister, the man pulled out a bike chain and started smacking him.

He said: “He started pelting me with the it over and over again. He hit me from my upper legs up to my head.

“I kept trying to grab it and cover my face while he was swinging it at me. Once he hit me on the head for the last time, that’s when I fell to the ground and I don’t remember too much from then on.

“I couldn’t open my eyes but I could hear so much yelling and screaming, I remember my stomach dry retching trying to vomit.

“Then I was thrown on my side so I didn’t choke, I imagine.”

He was rushed to hospital with a laceration to his head and severe bruising to his body but the next day he was released.

However, he admitted himself back in when he found he was struggling to stay steady on his feet and to communicate.

“I then spent the day in hospital thinking the worst, that possibly I had been brain damaged of some kind,” he added.

“After CT scans and other examinations, the doctors seem to think possible suffering of vertigo from the blows to the head.”

Bradley has been forced to take several weeks off work for rehabilitation and admitted it was the third time he had been attacked because of his sexuality.

He said: “It seems maybe Mackay police need to tighten their belts on these hates crimes.

“It makes me paranoid to go to work surrounded by men thinking they are all out to get me. Going out to have a good night, I’m always unsure what’s around the corner.

“And for this to happen once again makes me want to just move away from here again.”
