Gay Priest suspended by Church for supporting LGBT rights

By Fabio Crispim

Reverend Warren Hall has been suspended by the Newark archdiocese this week after he expressed support for a basketball coach who lost her job for being gay.

Kate Drumgoole was fired in January after photos of her 2014 wedding to Jaclyn Vanore surfaced online.

NewNowNext reports that Hall backed Drumgoole but soon after was told that he would no longer be allowed to celebrate Mass in public, present himself as a priest or work in any New Jersey parish.

Hall states that he was informed over the phone by Newark Archbishop John Myers who said Hall’s actions were “confusing the faithful.”

Myers and Hall have clashed over LGBT rights before when Hall showed support for the ‘NOH8’ campaign on Facebook and was fired by myers from his position at Seton Hall University.

Hall states that he is “upset” though he remains firm in his belief that he’s done nothing wrong.
