‘Glee’s Chris Colfer not leaving the show, despite tweet

Chris Colfer is not leaving Glee, despite a claim from the actor’s Twitter account, which was hacked yesterday (July 3).
A tweet from Colfer’s Twitter account, made while the out gay actor was on a transatlantic flight without an internet connection, purported to inform his followers that he had been “let go” from his role as Kurt Hummel on the long-running musical TV show.
“Due to personal issues, I have been let go from the cast of Glee. Explanations will come shortly,” said the tweet.
The claim turned out to be false, and in a statement released yesterday, Glee‘s US broadcaster Fox said: “We’ve been alerted that Chris Colfer’s Twitter account has been hacked. Rumours of his dismissal from Glee could not be further from the truth. We love Chris and look forward to working with him again this season.”
After discovering that his Twitter account had been hacked, Colfer tweeted:
Apparently I missed quite the INTERESTING day while aboard my flight. I’m just glad I wasn’t “killed by a fruit truck” again.
