‘God Loves Gays’ billboard erected in Westboro town

A ‘God Loves Gays’ billboard has been erected in the hometown of the Westboro Baptist Church.
The advert, which recently appeared in Topeka, Kansas, features a cartoon version of God, beside the slogan and a rainbow.
The Facebook page ‘God’ recently started a crowdfunding campaign to raise $50,000 (£31,000) to erect the pro-gay billboard in response to Westboro Baptist Church’s ‘God Hates Fags’ signs. The campaign has now raised more than $82,000 (£50,800), with surplus donations being given to the National Alliance to End Homelessness.
The Westboro Baptist Church responded on Twitter, saying: “We can deal with lies and taunts.”
A church spokesperson told Mashable: “Thank God for that lying billboard! Every soul that sees it will either rejoice for the lie and the vain hope of afflicting the servants of God at WBC.
“Or, they will sigh and mourn for that awful sin and all the parts of it, knowing that every single soul that weighed in with money or words, in favor of that lying billboard, will stand before God in the Judgment, so very ashamed. Knowing also, that when they stand before God in the judgment, it will be too late for repentance, and eternal torment will follow.”
‘God’ – who was bought the advertising space until March 2015 – said: “For far too long, nasty humans have made God sound like a bigoted jerk. When really, nothing could be further from the truth. I’m super loving!”
