Gus Kenworthy has told homophobic holidaymakers to ‘stay the fuck at home’ following abusive comments on a LGBTQ+ ski event in Colorado.
The openly gay Olympic skier tweeted screengrabs on an Instagram post celebrating the Breck Pride Week – which will take place on April 3-7 – as well as a picture of skiers carrying the rainbow Pride flag down a slope.
Gus also posted a series of homophobic comments which were published underneath the image with one saying: “why don’t we have a straight event for those who are straight, why does being lgbt make you more special than anyone else?”
Seeing these comments, Gus tweeted: “Always saddened by the homophobia on Pride posts.
“If seeing a rainbow flag while you’re on vacation upsets you then please do the world a favor and stay the fuck at home.
“Thank you to the many ski resorts that designate a week to making more people feel welcomed, included & safe!”
