Hillary Clinton blasts LGBT discrimination in new campaign video
By Ben Kelly
A new campaign video from Hillary Clinton criticises the LGBT discrimination which is currently thriving in certain parts of the U.S.
In a clear response to the recent law changes in Mississippi and North Carolina, Clinton’s new video shows a montage of her commentary on LGBT rights.
It lifts from a campaign speech in which she said, “I’ll fight to end discrimination wherever it occurs. It is outrageous that in 2015 you can still be fired for being gay, you can still lose your home for being gay, you can even be denied a wedding cake for being gay, and this kind of discrimination goes against everything we stand for as a country.”

LGBT rights have been at the forefront of the news agenda in the U.S. this month after Mississippi introduced a bill permitting religious businesses and organisations to discriminate against LGBT people on the grounds of their faith.
North Carolina has also introduced a controversial ‘bathroom bill’ which forbids transgender people from using the bathroom of their choice.
Clinton’s video also quotes from her famous 2011 speech to the UN, in which she proclaimed that “Gay rights are human rights, and human rights are gay rights,” and reminds voters that Clinton made it possible for transgender Americans to change the gender on their passports while she was Secretary of State.
