‘Hot Cop of Castro’ arrested following hit-and-run incident

A San Francisco police officer dubbed that ‘Hot Cop of Castro’ after his picture went viral last summer has been arrested following a hit-and-run incident in the city this weekend.
Chris Kohrs, 38, allegedly hit two pedestrians in an orange Dodge Charger in the early hours of Sunday morning (November 30) before abandoning the vehicle and fleeing the scene. He was later arrested and charged with two felony counts of hit and run after being tracked down by police officers, reports abc7news.com.
Both victims were rushed to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Witnesses described seeing two men lying on the ground following the hit-and-run, which took place on Broadway and Montgomery street just after 2am.
“Some guy moves, but the other guy does not move. Then they take the guys in emergency,” witness Allan Tahamouni said.
“The car was right here when I looked out, but I didn’t see anyone get out of it or anything. All the doors were shut, the lights were on. It just looked like somebody had pulled up, stopped, got out of the car and left,” another added.
Kohrs has been placed on administrative leave pending the investigation’s outcome. Police would not confirm whether the 38-year-old was under the influence of drink or drugs at the time of the crash.
The SFPD officer became an internet sensation last summer after photos of him on duty in the city’s gay district went viral online. A Facebook fan page established for the officer has over 52,000 likes.
“I’m not used to a lot of people coming up to me and taking pictures and things like that”, he said at the time. “I’m happy to do that. But — just the amount of people — it’s flattering. But that was something I had to get used to working in that neighborhood.”
Anyone with information about the accident is asked to call the San Francisco Police Department’s anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444.
