How did Team LGBT do at the Rio Paralympic Games?

This year’s Paralympic Games saw 12 openly LGBTI athletes representing their nations in Rio, helping to smash stereotypes about sexuality and disability in sport.
Of the 12 openly LGBTI athletes competing at this year’s Paralympic Games in Rio nine of them won medals, putting the hypothetical ‘Team LGBT’ at 27th in the medal table with five gold, two silvers and three bronze medals.
Amazingly though, the percentage of LGBTI athletes competing in Rio who ended up on the podium was a massive 75%, more than any actual country competing at The Games.
Out of the nine LGBTI Paralympic medal winners, the Teams GB and USA took home the most with three each, including gold and silver for Paralympic GB’s history-making flagbearer Lee Pearson.
