Hungary PM Viktor Orbán condemns MEP Jozsef Szajer over arrest after 20-man ‘orgy’

Hungarian PM Viktor Orbán has condemned MEP Jozsef Szajer following his arrest for allegedly attending an 20-man orgy in Brussels – as the organsier shared details of the gathering.

Szajer – an architect of Orbán’s anti-LGBTQ+ party who drafted the 2011 Hungarian constitution to outlaw same-sex marriage – was arrested after a police raid at the party above a gay bar last Friday (27 November).

An onlooker claimed they saw Orbán “fleeing” down a gutter; he has since apologised and resigned, but offered no detail of what happened at the party, which was illegal under current Coronavirus restrictions.

However, organiser David Manzheley has since spoken out about the incident in interviews with Belgian media.

“Sex without a condom. And only with men”

Manzheley claims he spoke with the politician that evening, alleging to Nieuwsblad newspaper (via The Times): “He said he had lived in Brussels for a long time and also occasionally organised sex parties at home.”

He added that rules of the party included that participants “do not have HIV and, recently, no corona”, adding: “It is about free sex. Everyone who comes here comes to have sex. Sex without a condom. And only with men.”

He also told Het Laatste Nieuws (via The Times): “We have a chat, we have a drink. just like in a pub. The only difference is that in the meantime we also have sex with each other.”

Manzheley added to Nieuwsblad: “Suddenly my whole living room was full of cops. They immediately started shouting, ‘ID card! Now!’ But we weren’t even wearing underpants. How the hell could we quickly pull out our ID cards? That only made the officers angry. They were very unfriendly and said mean things about gays.”

“Unacceptable and indefensible”

In a statement issued through a representative, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has said: “What our representative, Jozsef Szajer, did has no place in the values of our political family.

“We will not forget nor repudiate his 30 years of work but his deed is unacceptable and indefensible. Following this, he took the only appropriate decision when he apologised and resigned from his position as member of the European parliament and left Fidesz. We have noted his decision.”

Orbán’s Fidesz party is known for its LGBTQ+ intolerance, recently proposing  ban on same-sex couples adopting.
